In January 2026, a photo posted by Sierra News 232 showing Victor Osimhen kneeling on a football pitch and proposing to a woman believed to be Regina Daniels began circulating widely on Facebook. The post attracted massive reactions, with many users debating whether Regina Daniels left her husband for Osimhen.
Due to the speed at which the claim spread and the strong public interest, DUBAWA investigated to verify the authenticity of the image and the claim attached to it.
Verification
Firstly, DUBAWA conducted a Google search and found that the claim had not been reported by any credible media outlet.
DUBAWA also conducted a detailed verification of the viral image using AI image detection tools. Our findings indicate that the photo is AI-generated. For instance, when we subjected it to JustDone, the result showed that 74% of it was AI-generated.
Additionally, no official football body, match report, or credible sports media outlet recorded such a proposal happening after any semi-final match involving Victor Osimhen.
Conclusion
The viral claim that Victor Osimhen proposed to Regina Daniels after a semi-final football match is false. DUBAWA’s investigation confirms that the photo used to support the claim is AI-generated.
