Guinea and Liberia have been experiencing a cross-border crisis. The incident began on March 2, 2026, when Guinean soldiers crossed into Liberia’s territory and hoisted their flag in Sorlumba Town, Lofa County. The situation, which incited fear and caused panic among civilians, was later resolved in a peace agreement initiated by President Joseph Boakai and Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio in Conakry.
A report by DUBAWA of the incident can be found here. From this backdrop, Savo Savo took to Facebook on March 22, 2026, claiming that Guinean troops were spotted crossing over to launch an attack on Liberia. “It is alleged that Guinean soldiers are now crossing with heavy military equipment in Sorlumba. Liberia is still waiting for diplomacy,” the post said.

The claim generated 1.1k reactions, 353 comments, and 55 shares at the time of filing this report. In the comments, viewers argued about the authenticity of the post. Some believed the claim, while others labelled it fake. The mixed reactions prompted DUBAWA to initiate a fact-check.
