President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, recently hosted a three-day summit with five African leaders. The five African Presidents invited were Liberia, Gabon, Guinea-Bissau, Mauritania, and Senegal. Joseph Boakai is the President of the Republic of Liberia, a country situated in West Africa. During the discussions, President Trump praised the Liberian President for his proficiency in English and inquired about the country where the President learned such “beautiful English.”

The compliment drew public attention, leading to several reports on major media outlets like the BBC and CNN.

From this backdrop, a popular Liberian blog posted that President Boakai has been rated the most educated president in Africa. The claimant said the leader was ranked number one among other summit leaders.

This claim caught the attention of DUBAWA because of the controversy it has generated and its potential to mislead people.

Verification

DUBAWA first had to establish that the claim was based on an opinion expressed by the US President Donald Trump during his meeting with a section of African leaders. The video can be found here.

Without any metric or source, this opinion can in no way form the basis for ranking the most educated presidents in Africa.

The researcher, however, went beyond the opinion and found a 2025 statistic shown by ‘See Africa Today’ that indicates Dr. William Samoei Ruto of Kenya is the Most Educated President in Africa.

The entity rating is based on a series of factors, including academic background, critical thinking, excellent oratory skills, problem-solving skills, and leadership style.

Secondly, reports accumulated from the summit didn’t rank the Liberian President as the number one amongst other African Leaders or the most educated Presidents in Africa. President Boakai was only praised for his proficiency in English, as captured in the video here.

Conclusion

Based on our findings, President Boakai has not been ranked the most educated man in Africa, nor was he ranked number one among his peers. So, the claim is false.
