A Facebook post circulating online claims that Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has died, and that the Israeli government is allegedly using artificial intelligence and deepfake technology to simulate his presence in public.
The claim further suggests that this is part of a broader attempt to conceal a leadership crisis in Israel. The post has generated confusion and concern, particularly amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
Given the sensitivity and potential global implications of such a claim, DUBAWA conducted a verification to determine its accuracy.
Verification
DUBAWA reviewed recent updates from official and verified sources linked to Benjamin Netanyahu, including his verified social media platforms.
The Prime Minister, after his alleged death, posted a video with the American Ambassador to Israel, Ambassador Mike Huckabee, affirming that he is still alive and well when Ambassador Mike informed him that the US President wanted to come and make sure the Prime Minister was okay.
DUBAWA also found that the Prime Minister recently shared a photo of himself in the central command room assessing the security situation, where he appeared in good health, seen holding a meeting and engaging in a conversation. He also posted a video of himself with the Israeli Defence Minister, Chief of Staff, Head of Mossad, the Chief of Air Force, and other senior Commanders.
Additionally, there have been no official announcements from the Government of Israel or any credible international media organisation reporting his death.
Major global news outlets, which would ordinarily report such a significant development, have not published any reports confirming the claim; instead, Reuters published a report on the video made by the Prime Minister in response to his alleged death by the Iranian government.
The allegation that artificial intelligence is being used to simulate his appearances is also unsupported by any verifiable evidence.
Conclusion
The claim that Benjamin Netanyahu is dead is false. Available evidence, including recent public appearances and the absence of any credible reports, confirms that he is alive. The viral post is therefore misinformation designed to mislead the public, especially in a tense geopolitical climate.
