In 2021, 19-year-old Emmanuel Tuloe was celebrated all across Liberia as an integrity hero.
That was because he found about $50,000 as a commercial bike rider and returned the same to its owner.
Amongst those who publicly hailed him was former President George Weah, who took him from his hometown in Nimba County and brought him to Monrovia.
Weah gave Tuloe several gifts in kind and cash and promised to personally sponsor him throughout high school and college.
Five years after this iconic moment for Tuloe, an online blog stated that Tuloe had dropped out of school.
Shine Liberia is quoted as saying, “The forgotten integrity icon. He reportedly dropped out of school due to abandonment. What went wrong?”
To find out what went wrong, DUBAWA verified the blog’s post.
Verification
DUBAWA phoned Emmanuel Tuloe to verify whether or not he is still in school. According to Tuloe, he is currently at his Risks Institute dormitory, schooling and has not dropped out of school.
“I’m in school right now,” he says. “I’m in the dorm. Someone is paying my school fees.”
Tuloe, however, explains that former President George Weah did not fulfil his promise of sponsoring him through school.
He said the former Liberian leader sponsored him from 2021 when he was in the 6th grade and stopped in 2023 when he was in the 8th grade, just months after he left office.
He said that gave him some financial difficulties during his 9th grade year, but the payments were taken care of by a private Liberian, who is also sponsoring his education.
DUBAWA also spoke with the school’s Dean of Boys, Karsouamunueh Tumu, and he also confirmed that Tuloe is still in the school.
Conclusion
Shine Liberia’s post that Emmanuel Tuloe has dropped out of school is misleading.
