Old House of Reps walkout video recirculated as protest against Tinubu

Full Text

A Facebook user, Igwe Bloger, on Oct. 9, 2026, posted a video (archived here) claiming that lawmakers in the House of Representatives staged a walkout amid a heated session, calling the All Progressives Congress (APC) “thieves”.

A man in the video said, “They are calling APC thieves/criminals because of this election transmission of results.”

The 30-second video shows people walking out of a gathering while chanting, “APC ole (thieves).” A text overlay at the top of the video reads, “Tinubu must go… a common front to defeat Tinubu and salvage Nigeria.”

As of Oct. 12, 2026, the post had garnered over 417,000 views, more than 8,400 likes, over 773 comments, and 3,500 shares.

Some comments suggest other users interpreted the video as a recent development ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Ego Glory Ogan commented, “2027 go hot oooooo!”

Otas Adams said, “Now everybody is ready in 2027. We will reclaim ourselves.”

Another user, Abdul Malik, wrote, “Tinubu must go.”

Facebook users reshared the post here, here, here and here.

The post comes as Nigeria moves closer to the 2027 general elections. DUBAWA investigated the video to determine its veracity.

Verification

DUBAWA first observed that the video bears the logo of Channels Television, a Nigerian broadcast media organisation.

A keyframe analysis showed that Channels Television published the video in February 2026.

The report was captioned, “Opposition Members Stage Walkout Over Electoral Amendment Bill, Insist E-Transmission Of Results.”

Further searches found that Arise News and TheCable also published the same video, corroborating that the footage originated from an earlier event in February 2026. These findings confirm the video was not a recent walkout against Tinubu’s government as claimed.

Conclusion

DUBAWA’s investigation found that while the video is real, it is not recent, and the actions of members of the House of Representatives were against a bill, not the Tinubu government. The claim is, therefore, misleading.
