Quick facts about Sierra Leone elections 

  • The election will hold on Saturday, June 24, 2023.
  • This is a multi-tier election. Voting will take place for Presidential, Parliamentary, Councillor and Chairman/Mayoral positions.
  • Polling will start at 7 am and end at 5 pm.
  • There are 3,374,528 voters across the country.
  • There are 3,630 polling centres nationwide.
  • There are 11,832 polling stations.
  • There will be a maximum of 300 voters in each polling station.
  • There are 13 presidential candidates running in the election.
  • APC nominated 87 women candidates for member of parliament nationwide, representing 32.2% of the total candidates it nominated.
  • SLPP nominated 90 women candidates for member of parliament nationwide, representing 33.3% of the total candidates it nominated for MP. 
  • A total of 37% of women were nominated for MP in this year’s election.
  • 3,374,528 ballot papers were printed plus a 5% buffer for contingency.
  • Tactile Ballot Guide for people with disability has also arrived since Monday,15th June.
  • The ECSL has reprinted 19,612 voter IDs, which were faulty during the first print.

The breakdown is as follows: 

  •  Four thousand seven hundred seventy-nine cards of nominated candidates.
  •  Eleven thousand three hundred two cards of voters who relocated.
  •  Three thousand three hundred one cards of voters who did not have a photo.
  • Two hundred thirty cards of people who transferred their registration from one centre to another.
