Claim: Social media users have alleged that the viral video, which shows Senator Prince K. Moye Sr. of Bong County saying he enrolled at Cuttington University in 2021 and graduated in 2005, is AI-generated.

Full Text

On Friday, Oct. 16, 2026, Senator Moye was the keynote speaker at the 77th graduation ceremony of the William V.S. Tumban-Gray High School in Gbarnga. After his address, a video circulated on Facebook in which he appears to tell the graduating students, “I entered Cuttington University in 2021, and graduated in 2005.”

Martin Fofana, a supporter of Edward Karfiah, Moye’s political opponent, posted the video. It was later reposted here, here, and here.

These mixed reactions led DUBAWA to verify the video.

Verification

Moye’s media officer, Korn Manipalie Kumahn, posted the same video on Facebook and said the senator made the statement in excitement and by mistake. He added that the senator acknowledged the mistake and that the message he shared with the graduating students resonated with them.

“We agree that the Senator made an error because he was so excited speaking with students from the school he graduated from decades ago, but the message was clear; the students understood what he was trying to say. The Senator even went back to correct the mistake after he realised it,” Korn said.

Korn clarified that the Senator meant to say he entered Cuttington University in 2001 and graduated in 2005.

A keyword search on Google led to a Frontpage Africa report on Moye’s biography, which revealed that the senator enrolled at Cuttington University in 2001 and graduated in 2005.

DUBAWA’s manual verification shows no inconsistencies in the video. There were no cuts or jumps, which suggests the video is real.

The researcher took a screenshot of the video and ran it through Illuminarty, an AI-image detection tool. It returned a 5.5% probability of AI generation or alteration. This suggests no AI manipulation in that frame, but these tools are probabilistic, not definitive.

Conclusion

DUBAWA found no evidence that the video was altered or generated with AI. A frame from the video showed a low probability (5.5%) of AI manipulation. More significantly, the senator’s media officer confirmed that Senator Moye made the statement and described it as an error made in excitement.
