Claim: An X user claims FIFA has suspended Osimhen for 25 games for violating its anti-drug policy.

Verdict: False. DUBAWA’s findings indicate that no credible news outlet reported Osimhen’s alleged association with substance abuse or FIFA suspension. Additionally, FIFA did not make any official announcement regarding disciplinary action under its anti-doping policy against the Nigerian international. Besides, Osimhen is expected to be included in Galatasaray’s line-up against Çaykur Rizespor, following his training with the team on Friday, Feb. 6, 2026.

Under the 2021 WADA Code and Sport Integrity Australian Regulations 2020, athletes who test positive for recreational drugs such as cocaine, heroin, and cannabis during competition can face sanctions.
Meanwhile, Performance Enhancing Drugs (PEDs) such as anabolic steroids or synthetic hormones like erythropoietin, are banned during competitions or outside competition. Athletes who use them could face penalties, including long suspensions, loss of titles, and even life bans.
Recently, an X user, @boutmoney112 (archived here), claimed that the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has suspended Nigerian forward and Galatasaray’s talisman, Victor Osimhen, for 25 games for violating its anti-drug policy.
“Victor Osimhen has been suspended for 25 games for violating the fifa’s anti-drug policy,” the X user wrote.
The claimant further cautioned, “Nigerian celebrities (to) stop using drugs.” As of Friday, Feb. 2, 2026, the post has garnered 759 comments, 134 retweets, 1,500 likes and 61 bookmarks.
While some X users inquired if the 27-year-old used drugs, others doubted the claim.
“Is that the reason for his good performance?” @fwBen inquired.
“He took a drug?” @Heismikel1 asked.
“What is your source for this?” fknbrk inquired.
“Can you prove this?” squid_onee asked.
Due to the sensitivity of the claim and to prevent any disinformation, DUBAWA decided to verify it.
Verification
DUBAWA conducted a keyword search concerning the claim and discovered no credible news outlet reported Osimhen’s alleged association with substance abuse and alleged suspension.
We also checked FIFA’s website for an official announcement detailing Osimhen’s alleged suspension for anti-doping policy, but found no related information.
We checked Osimhen’s Turkish club, Galatasaray’s website, to see if the club had made any announcements or shared any information about the Nigerian international’s FIFA suspension, but found nothing.
