A post on ZeeNews.india.com claims that a Nigerian man is married to 13 wives who are all pregnant for him at a time. The post has the picture of a man standing in the middle of 13 women who are all heavily pregnant.
The link to the story has been shared several times on multiple platforms and the story itself has also featured on different other platforms; here and here with the exact narrative. The same story, depicting the exact picture was also published on this YouTube channel, where it attracted 198,000 views, and many comments. The porn narrative, expressly designed to generate clickbaits through investment in salacious references, has the additional, if even subliminal, intent to trigger uncomplimentary stereotypes and inferences about men or women from specific geographies.
Verification
First, an analysis of the picture on the tech platform, Forensically ( a tech tool designed for verifying digital images to determine its authenticity), revealed that the image was stylized to cunningly plant the man within a line-up of a bevy of ladies, in an unmistakable desire to help achieve a particular strand of narrative.
Looking closely at where he stood, the legs of, probably, another pregnant woman are seen behind him. And unlike most pictures of the same type, the gentleman of unusual fortune is not projecting his emotions in any physical sense, like stretching his arms around the shoulders of the women nearest to him.
Asian women and Nigerian men are not prevalently interracial couples. Thus to say that a Nigerian man is married to not 1 but 13 Asian women at a time is rather absurd.
Besides, the website is crowded with adverts and distorted headlines, alongside decontextualized and blatant misinformation inexorably designed to achieve the purpose of click baiting.
On the whole, the photo has been shared on multiple other sites with slightly different narratives but no Nigerian news site has shared the content, although some Indian based sites have copiously shared the picture. Even such sites would neither share the source of the story nor the name of the man in question. This information is false.
Conclusion
The claim that a certain Nigerian man is a husband to 13 wives, all pregnant for him around the same time is false. Analysis run on a photo verification tool reveals that the picture was doctored.
