Few days after DUBAWA’s fact check on a claim that Steve Harvey was in Nigeria, a Facebook page and blog sharing the information have deleted the news.
The post had earlier claimed that Mr Harvey, a popular American TV Host and comedian, arrived in Nigeria on Saturday to support the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi.
However, a fact check from DUBAWA revealed that neither did the 65-year-old comedian show up in Nigeria, nor did he demonstrate support for Mr Peter Obi.
Before DUBAWA’s fact check, a Facebook page had used the news to gather more than 13, 000 reactions; 3, 000 comments and 959 comments.
We recently attempted to check the page to ascertain how far the news has spread, only to discover that the post had been deleted
Also, a click on the blog to check the existence of the post now redirect users to the homepage after briefly displaying “Page not found”
Further attempts to search for the Keyword “Steve Harvey” was also futile as no report on the blog is focused on the American.
