The Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID), through its verification and digital investigations platforms, DUBAWA and Digital Technology, Artificial Intelligence, and Information Disorder Analysis Centre (DAIDAC), is urgently seeking skilled radio journalists for a high-impact, independent, and institutional consultancy in Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, Kebbi, and Niger States.
Project Focus: Empowering Northern Local Radio Stations with Fact-Checking and Conflict-Sensitive Reporting Competencies.
Eligibility and selection criteria
- Must be a full-time journalist employed by a radio broadcasting network based in any of the following states: Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, Kebbi, or Niger States
- Multiple journalists from the same radio station are encouraged to apply
- Have at least two to three years of experience in journalism, broadcasting, media production, or related areas.
- Applications are strongly encouraged from female journalists currently working in radio stations.
- Must demonstrate strong knowledge of local communities’ information ecosystem and current affairs within the state
- Must have the necessary tools required to produce and submit relevant audio content
- Must be proficient in Hausa and capable of broadcasting in the same language
The role (key deliverables)
- Launch and anchor a weekly live fact-checking radio programme, including call-in sessions.
- Produce fact-checks that specifically address violence-related disinformation and conflict-triggering narratives.
- Serve as the station’s designated contact person in transforming local media into an instrument for peace.
