Over one million voters across Ekiti’s 16 Local Government Areas (LGA) will determine the next governor on Saturday, June 20, 2026.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) revealed that 1,028,929 voters out of 1,059,360 collected their Permanent Voters Card (PVC).
This was contained in a statement INEC shared on its official X handle @inecenigeria on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.
“The number of PVCs collected has risen from 958,052 in 2023, representing a collection rate of 97.0 per cent, to 1,028,929 in 2026, representing 97.1 per cent of registered voters,” part of INEC’s statement reads.
The commission noted that the number of registered voters in the State has increased from 987,647 in 2023 to 1,059,360 in 2026.
Recall that INEC originally scheduled to end on June 11, 2026, but extended to June 14, 2026, following consultations with stakeholders at a meeting held in Ado-Ekiti.
The commission subsequently suspended the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in the State on Thursday, May 15, 2026.
INEC, in an earlier statement, announced that 1,059,360 voters registered to vote in the Ekiti governorship election. Out of this number, 66,664 were new voters added to the register during the exercise. INEC also noted that 2,103 entries were removed after the Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) detected cases of duplicate and multiple registrations during the data-cleaning process.
Beyond preparations for voters, the commission also disclosed that it accredited 91 media organisations, comprising 675 journalists and 98 observer groups to monitor the conduct of the poll across the state.
