Claim: A Facebook page named Salone Political Watch claimed that Osman Foday Yansaneh had resigned as the Acting National Chairperson of the All People’s Congress (APC), stating that the reason for his alleged resignation was unclear and details would follow later.
Verdict: False! The claim is inaccurate and lacks supporting evidence. No official statement from Osman Foday Yansaneh, the APC Secretariat, or any recognised APC communication platform announces or confirms a resignation – including the media team of former Opposition Leader in Parliament Chernoh Maju Bah, which categorically dismissed the claim.

On Facebook, the social media page Salone Political Watch posted that Osman Foday Yansaneh had resigned as Acting National Chairman of the APC (archived here).
The post read:
“Breaking News… Osman Foday Yansaneh, acting APC National Chairperson, don resign; the reason for the resignation is not clear. Details later.”
The claim quickly went viral, generating reactions from supporters and members of the public due to Yansaneh’s prominent role in Sierra Leone’s main opposition party.
Given the public interest surrounding the claim, DUBAWA set out to verify its authenticity.
Verification
To ascertain the accuracy of the claim, DUBAWA contacted the media team of Chernoh Maju Bah (Chericoco), the APC’s former Leader of the Opposition in Parliament and the party’s 2023 vice-presidential candidate.
After reviewing the viral post, the media team responded succinctly: “Fake news.”
Furthermore, DUBAWA found no official statement from Osman Foday Yansaneh, the APC National Secretariat, or the party’s official website, or any recognised APC communication platform announcing his resignation. As of July 2, 2026, Yansaneh’s X profile (@ofyansaneh) still displays the title ‘Acting National Chairman’ of the APC, with no indication of a resignation.

Similarly, no credible national media organisation reported that the Acting National Chairman has stepped down.
In matters involving leadership changes within major political parties, official announcements are typically issued through the party’s recognised communication channels before being reported by credible news organisations. No such announcement exists in this case.
Conclusion
The APC media team dismissed the claim as false. DUBAWA’s independent verification found no official resignation announcement, no credible media coverage of a resignation, and no other evidence to support the claim.
