Verdict: False! DUBAWA’s investigation showed that CAS has yet to issue a final verdict on the case, despite officially confirming in March 2026 an appeal made by the Senegalese Federation. Careful observations of the document also showed that it’s fake.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) ignited a storm of controversy after overturning Senegal’s on-field victory in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final and awarding the title to Morocco.
Senegal had defeated Morocco 1–0 in extra time in Rabat, with Pape Gueye scoring the decisive goal.
However, CAF’s Appeals Committee later ruled that Senegal’s temporary walk-off in protest of a stoppage-time penalty violated tournament regulations. Citing Articles 82 and 84, the committee disqualified Senegal and handed Morocco a 3–0 administrative victory.
The decision provoked outrage in Dakar, where fans and officials denounced it as “an administrative theft.”
Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko condemned CAF’s move and vowed to pursue legal action.
The Senegalese Football Federation then filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which is reviewing the case.
However, a Facebook page, Richmond K. Entsie, shared a verdict document, claiming that CAS has declared Senegal the AFCON winners.

DUBAWA conducted a Google keyword search but found no evidence supporting the claim.
We also verified the claim on the official CAS website, but found no recent decree regarding Senegal’s appeal since March, 2026.
Find below key findings we observed on the viral documents contrary to the document shared by CAS regarding Senegal’s appeal in March, 2026.
- Inconsistent Case Numbers: In the viral document shared by the claimant, the case number is listed as CAS 2026/A/10857, whereas the official case media release lists Senegal’s appeal case as CAS 2026/A/12295. Mostly, the court reference number remains identical from the initial appeal/filing to the court.
- Wrong Prosecutor and Defendant use: The viral document claims the dispute is between the Senegalese Football Federation and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation. However, the official CAS filing shows that the case is formally between the Senegalese Football Federation (Appellant) and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (co-Respondents).

Conclusion
DUBAWA’s careful investigation showed that the claim is false. Senegal has not been declared the AFCON winner by CAS. No verdict has been made by CAS.
