Verdict: FALSE! Although Mr Foxx was briefly ill, we found a recent tweet of him wishing his sister a happy birthday.

Kemi Olunloyo, a journalist, blogger, and activist in Nigeria, is notable for making controversial claims. She has been criticised for many claims which end up being false.
In April 2023, the family of popular Hollywood actor Jamie Foxx revealed that the actor had been hospitalised in Atlanta following a “medical complication.”
Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx was hospitalised in Georgia and under observation. On Wednesday night, his daughter Corinne Foxx shared on Instagram that her father had experienced a “medical complication,” adding that he is “on his way to recovery.”
She did not specify what happened medically. The source with knowledge of the event said Foxx was not transported by an emergency vehicle, and it did not take place while on the set of the Netflix film, “Back in Action,” which Fox is currently filming.
The post by Ms Olunloyo alleged that Mr Foxx is dead and prayed for his soul to rest in peace. The post has garnered 5,000 likes, 4400 comments, and 461 shares since it was posted on July 24, 2023.
The sensitivity of this claim and the personalities involved prompted DUBAWA to investigate this claim.
Verification
We went through the post, Ms Olunloyo wrote on X(formerly known as Twitter), “I think Jamie Fox is dead. Discussed this with my American and Canadian colleagues. May his soul rest in peace.”
She also posted a picture of the actor, highlighting some differences between both pictures.
We visited the Instagram handle of Mr Foxx, rumoured to be dead by the journalist, and saw that he was not dead. His Instagram page shows a recent picture of him wishing his sister a happy birthday on August 1, 2023.
We also went through the similarities posted by Ms Olunloyo to depict the changes and saw that he had become slimmer because of the sickness.
On his Instagram, he posted his first video since hospitalisation, “I know a lot of people were waiting or wanting to hear updates but to be honest with you, I just didn’t want you to see me like that, man,” he said. “I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, television show. I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was gonna make it through,” he said in the video.
