Claim: A Facebook user claims that Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah confirmed that Liberia’s Representative to the United Nations, Lewis Brown, walked out in protest during the Israeli Prime Minister’s speech.
Verdict: False! No record supports the claim, and Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah has denied it.
Full Text:
At the recently concluded UN General Assembly Conference, dozens of delegates walked out during a presentation by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
This was in protest of what they believe to be human rights violations perpetrated by Israel in its dealings with Gaza and Lebanon.
Amid the controversy, Facebook user Foday Massaquoi alleged that Liberia’s Information Minister. Jerolinmek Piah, admitted that UN Ambassador Lewis Brown walked out in protest against Israel. Brown is Liberia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

DUBAWA decided to fact-check the claim as part of its mandate to counter misinformation and disinformation and promote truth-telling in public discourse.
Verification
DUBAWA first contacted the claimant to request the source and evidence for his claim, but he had not responded to our inquiries as of the time of filing this report.
The researcher then contacted Liberia’s Information Minister, Jerolinmek Piah, who denied the claim.

Minister Piah also directed DUBAWA to his official response posted on KMTV, where he described the claim as false and misleading.
In his speech, Piah said Liberia’s delegation remained seated in the hall throughout Prime Minister Netanyahu’s statement and did not stage a walkout in protest.
Conclusion
The claim is false. Piah told DUBAWA that the Liberian delegation remained seated through the Israeli Prime Minister’s speech, contrary to social media claims.
