A Facebook user called Alieu Sylvalie recently posted a photo on his page. He captioned it:
“Somewhere in Bo. Can you tell which area?”
This post has been shared many times and has confused people online. Some people believed it was a road in Bo, while others were unsure. The image shows a large multi-lane highway with many cars, a bus, and a truck. The road has an upper and lower section with a tunnel-like structure. This highway setup is not found in Bo or elsewhere in Sierra Leone.
Verification
A DUBAWA fact-checker carried out a reverse image search using Google. The result revealed that the image has been on the internet for many years and is not new. The image’s original location is Taiwan, not Bo or any other place in Sierra Leone.
Several websites and online sources also confirm that the highway in the image is from a city in Taiwan. The design, road structure, and vehicles clearly show that a well-developed highway system is unavailable in Bo.
Further investigation shows no record or news of any road in Bo looking like the one in the picture. The picture has been wrongly used to give a false impression.
Conclusion
