An online media platform, “Montserrado Media Inc.,” with about 79k followers, claimed in a social media post that the speaker, Fonati Koffa, has resigned amid an ongoing leadership crisis at the House of Representatives.

With the House of Representatives’ ongoing leadership crisis, the Supreme Court declared Fonati Koffa the legitimate speaker on April 23, 2025.

Some commenters expressed disbelief in the post’s comment section, describing it as false.

One of the commenters, Cassius Collins Jr., said, “Another poor piece of propaganda again. The man na resigning for fun.”

Another commenter, Adela Nimely Gouzeh, commented, “so so lie lie.”

As of the time of writing the report, the post had generated 18 comments and 68 shares. DUBAWA decided to verify the claim as part of its efforts to counter misinformation and disinformation.

The researcher contacted the online media outlet to provide evidence to support their claim, but they have yet to respond to the many inquiries.

A few hours after the online blog made the claim, Speaker Fonati Koffa posted on his social media handle, urging citizens to refrain from amplifying unsubstantiated claims that risk fostering unnecessary confusion.

Also, the Director of Political Affairs in Speaker Fonati Koffa’s office, Menipakei Dumoe, revealed that though there are ongoing consultations regarding the speaker’s resignation, information about it is false.
