CLAIM: The governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party, Sunny Ofehe, claims Delta state has the second-highest debt profile in Nigeria.
FINDING: According to data from the Debt Management Office, Delta ranks second highest in domestic debt with N272.6 billion as of September 2022. However, Delta had an external debt of US$60.05 million as of June 2022, ranking 18 among states. When the domestic and external debt is combined, Delta does not have the second-highest debt profile.

CLAIM: The governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party in Delta State, Kenneth Gbagi, said over 43.4% of the youths are out of jobs.
FINDING: The latest data from the National Bureau of Statistics released in the fourth quarter of 2020 shows that the unemployment rate in Delta State stood at 31.4% while the underemployment rate was 24.01%. The NBS statistics, however, do not have disaggregated data on youth unemployment by state.
