Claim: A Threads user claims that French President Emmanuel Macron has allegedly ordered the deployment of an additional 7,000 troops to fight ‘Islamic invaders’.
Verdict: Misleading. The claim recycles an old French security deployment as a recent one. There is no evidence of a new October 2026 order by Macron deploying an additional 7,000 troops to fight an alleged ‘Islamic invasion’.

A Threads user, @creation.library, has alleged that the French President Emmanuel Macron has ordered the deployment of an additional 7,000 troops to help fight ‘Islamic invaders’. The claimant added that the deployment was a response to brewing chaos in the country.
The post was accompanied by a video showing a large crowd near the Eiffel Tower, with smoke and what appears to be a fire in the foreground.
The caption reads, “This is present-day France… President Emmanuel Macron has ordered the deployment of an additional 7,000 troops to help fight the Islamic invaders as the country seems to be going down to gallows…”
As of Oct. 6, 2026, the post had received approximately 1,900 likes, 442 comments, 335 reposts and 2,300 shares.

Because it could mislead, DUBAWA decided to investigate.
Verification
DUBAWA searched recent reports and official information concerning the alleged deployment.
The 7,000-troop figure is not new. A keyword search led us to a report from Oct. 14, 2023, when French President Emmanuel Macron ordered the deployment of up to 7,000 soldiers across the country to reinforce security.
Reuters reported that the decision came after the Oct. 13, 2023 killing of teacher Dominique Bernard in an Islamist attack at a school in Arras, northern France. The troops were deployed as part of France’s existing security operation, Operation Sentinelle, to patrol major city centres and tourist sites.
The incident was also reported here, here, and here.
The deployment was therefore connected to a specific terrorist attack in 2023, not a present-day military campaign against an ‘Islamic invasion’.
Information on the French Defence Ministry website also confirms that Operation Sentinelle remains an ongoing security operation, with the military supporting civilian authorities in counter-terrorism and other domestic security duties.
DUBAWA observed that the wording in the Threads post exaggerates what the French government announced. The 2023 deployment was described as increased security patrols and protection of vulnerable sites. It was not an announcement that France was fighting an ‘Islamic invasion’. Reuters reported that the government raised the national security alert after the Arras attack and deployed soldiers to strengthen security.
We also checked the official website of the French Presidency and could not find such a report.
The video attached to the claim is also misleading. DUBAWA’s investigation shows that the video contained clips from unrelated events. The clip showing flames near the Eiffel Tower is not from 2026 or from immigration unrest; it is from May 31, 2025, during Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League victory celebrations, when some supporters set up flares, colored smoke, and small fires near the Champ de Mars, creating the illusion the tower was burning,
In the video uploaded by MeghUpdates, the latter part showed a fire truck ablaze. However, our investigation traced the video to violent nationwide student protests on Oct. 1, 2025, in Marseille.
DUBAWA therefore found no credible evidence supporting the post’s central claim that Macron has recently ordered an additional 7,000 troops to combat ‘Islamic invaders’.
Conclusion
The claim is misleading. Updates from the French government do not support the claim that it deployed 7,000 troops in October 2026. DUBAWA also found that the claimant recycled a 2023 incident and used videos from unrelated incidents to support the claim.
