Claim: A Facebook user posted a video and claimed that Obi’s supporters were campaigning in Jos and Calabar ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Verdict: Misleading. The campaign videos are linked to political support for former LP presidential candidate Obi in 2022.

A Facebook user, Political Warri Boi, posted a video (archived link here) on Aug. 22, 2026, claiming that supporters of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate Peter Obi were taking over campaign activities in Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The 52-second post contains two separate videos that are merged into one. The user claimed that the first video shows a campaign rally in Jos, Plateau State, while the second shows a campaign in Calabar, Cross River State.
“Peter Obi supporters are taking over the campaign rally in Nigeria. This is the campaign rally in Jos,” he claimed for the first clip.
He stitched another clip into the video, claiming the footage showed another campaign in Calabar, saying, “This is a different campaign in Calabar. See crowd, Calabar we give am to una…everybody dey vex.”
The video was reshared here, here, here, and here.
As of Sept. 13, 2026, the post had attracted over 8,800 likes, 668 comments and 1,500 shares.
Some users also reacted as though the videos showed recent campaign activities.
Christian Ayi commented, “Wow, I still remember this under bridge in Jos at the secretariat, that’s why I like Jos people, they have enough sense ooo.”
Benedicta Obemeata said, “Na to defend our votes oh. Nor be to dey campaign o.”
Another user, Benjamin Egwuasi, wrote, “Omo we no dey play ooo we go fight to finish to make sure say our vote must count obidient 4 life.”
To curtail the spread of misinformation and disinformation during the ongoing campaign period, DUBAWA decided to verify the post.
Verification
A Google Reverse Image Search of keyframes from the first part of the video linked DUBAWA to an earlier version of the footage published by Miriam Dido Vlog in 2022. The caption explained that it was a one-million match for Obi held in Jos, the Plateau State Capital.
DUBAWA also traced screenshots from the clip to a 2022 report by Nigerian Kicker that youth supporters of Obi on the platform “New Nigeria Movement for Peter Obi” held a one-million match for the former LP presidential candidate.
DUBAWA also checked the second part of the video presented as a recent campaign rally in Calabar. We discovered that the clip was shared on X on Aug. 13, 2022. It was a 1 million walk for Obi in Calabar.
DUBAWA also found a similar post shared on Facebook on Aug. 13, 2022.
Conclusion
The claim is misleading. The campaign videos were all recorded in 2022.
