Claim: A TikTok user, via a video, claims Salah has announced he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season.

Verdict: False. The video clip has been manipulated, as its original version shows Salah responding to questions on the night he reached a 50-goal tally and became Liverpool’s all-time European scorer after a win against Lille in January 2025.

Mohammed Salah slammed a goal in the 4-1 penalty shootout against Paris Saint-German (PSG) in the Champions League round-of-16. Still, it was scarcely sufficient to carry his Liverpool side to the quarter-finals as PSG’s Gianluigi Donnarumma palmed off Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones’ efforts from the spot kick.
Meanwhile, Salah’s future at the Merseyside club has generated speculation as his contract expires in the summer, alongside Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Following Liverpool’s crash-out in the Champions League on Tuesday, Mar. 11, 2025, a TikTok user, @thedangerousai, posted a video showing Salah allegedly announcing that he would leave Liverpool at the end of the season. The Reds talisman also complained about his two teammates, Diogo Jota and Darwin, whom the Egyptian described as frustrating him at the club. Remember that the duo cut a poor form in the return leg at the round-of-16 stage.
“I have an announcement. I am leaving Liverpool at the end of the summer. Because I have had enough of Darwin Nunez and Jota. The two are the worst strikers I have ever seen… and it is honestly embarrassing. I’d probably move to Manchester City to play with my Egyptian friend, Omar Marmoush,” Salah was heard saying.
As of Thursday, Mar 13, 2025, the post has garnered 170,000 likes, 2,997 comments, 14,000 bookmarks and 48,000 shares.
“Salah doesn’t speak English,” Papa, a TikTok user, countered.
“Darwin Nunez is a joke of a striker,” Jacklalomia6 declared.
“(Please) don’t stop with (these) AI videos,” NDURH5 encouraged.
Due to the constant use of artificial intelligence to distort and rewrite narratives and the matter’s sensitivity, DUBAWA decided to verify the post’s authenticity.
Verification
DUBAWA subjected the video clip to Google Lens, which linked us to a YouTube video similar to the video material the claimant shared. The video is tagged “Mo Salah’s Post Match Interview Liverpool 2 vs 1 Lille 21/1/2025” and was shared by YouTube user Mr Mime 360.
In the video, the interviewer acknowledged Salah’s goal contribution in the encounter with Lille, making him Liverpool’s leading scorer in all European competitions with a 50-goal tally. Salah also responded by saying he hoped to continue the run. The rest of the interview dwelled on Liverpool’s efforts to win the match despite a formidable Lille side.
DUBAWA also observed that the TikTok video has been inversely flipped, so the interviewer talking to Salah from the right side in the original video interview is now on the left side in the version the TikTok user shared.
Noticeably, DUBAWA saw that the corporate brands in the background of the interview had their spellings written backwards. That common feature suggests a video material or file has been digitally tampered with.
On Jan. 3, 2025, BeIn Sports reported that Salah had told Sky Sports that he would leave Liverpool at the end of the 2024/2025 season. He had told the sports news outlet that he would love to help Liverpool win the Premier League, describing it as a “special gift for the club and city.”
However, the Liverpool ace has only left people in doubt and much speculation. Three months later, Yahoo Sports reported on Mar. 2, 2025, that despite his contract status, “Salah is prioritising staying on the Merseyside.” Yahoo Sports quoted Telefoot as saying Salah wants to remain at Liverpool and is not currently speaking with any other club.
Conclusion
The claim is false. The TikTok video showing Salah allegedly announcing Liverpool’s exit has been manipulated. Besides, Salah’s exit from Liverpool remains a speculation as nothing has been officially announced yet.
