On March 1, 2026, a Facebook page known as Antisapa blog shared a post announcing the alleged burial of Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM). The post quickly gained attention, with many users reacting with shock and sadness.
The post claimed that the burial took place in Ikorodu and was carried out quietly by his close friend Kokopee and family members. It also stated that a video of the burial ceremony had been posted on his official platforms.
VeryDarkMan is a popular Nigerian social media personality known for his outspoken views and controversial commentary. Because of his large following, the claim of his death sparked widespread reactions across different social media platforms. Many users began reposting the information without confirming its authenticity. It was posted here and here.
Due to the rapid spread of the claim and the public concern it generated, DUBAWA decided to verify the information to determine its accuracy.

Verification
To verify the claim, DUBAWA carefully examined the viral video and social media posts. While the video shows what appears to be a burial scene, there was no credible evidence from reputable Nigerian media organisations confirming VeryDarkMan’s death.
DUBAWA also contacted Friday Omosola, an entertainment reporter based in Nigeria, for clarification.
In a direct response, Omosola stated that the claim is misleading and that VeryDarkMan is not dead. According to him, the viral burial video was created as a stunt for content creation. He explained that it was not an actual burial but a staged production intended for social media engagement.
Further checks across credible news platforms in Nigeria showed no reports confirming the death of VeryDarkMan. Given his public profile, such news would likely have been widely reported by established media houses if it were true.
Additionally, no official statement from his verified social media accounts confirmed his death. Instead, the video appears to have been used as part of a dramatic content strategy.
Conclusion
The claim that VeryDarkMan has been buried in Ikorodu is misleading. Findings by DUBAWA show that the viral burial video was staged for content creation and does not represent a real-life event.
