Claim: A Facebook user shared a video of a teenage girl arrested for committing murder.
Verdict: Misleading! The video is from 2018, not a recent development.

In recent months, Nigeria has witnessed a worsening security crisis, with the Borno State school abduction becoming the latest in such developments.
In light of this, a Facebook page, Authentic Voice, via video (archived here), claimed that a teenage girl disguised in hijabs and headscarves was apprehended for murdering four people.
In the video, the girl confessed to killing people in disguise with the help of a man who she claimed paid her N10,000 after every successful operation.
The Facebook post, uploaded on Sunday, Jun. 28, 2026, reads, “A 16-year-old female Eiye cult member revealed that she and three others had been sent to kill people while disguised in hijabs and headscarves, using a gun. She claimed that every mission they pay her 10,000 Naira while they give others 20,000 Naira.”
As of Monday, Jun. 29, 2026, the video had generated over 134 likes, 40 comments, and 127 reposts.
A similar video was also shared on X, as seen here and on Facebook here, here and here.
DUBAWA noticed that most users’ comments show they believe the post.
Ahmed Adebayo wrote, “Going out in Nigeria and getting back to your home safely is by the grace of God.”
Another comment by Sunny Brown reads, “See where the country is going.”
Meanwhile, Uche Williams sarcastically wrote, “Killers everywhere. Abeg make nobody kill me ooo.”
Seeing that the video had been shared across platforms and to forestall any form of mis- or disinformation, DUBAWA decided to verify it.
Verification
DUBAWA took screenshots of the clip and subjected them to Google Reverse Image Search. Our search linked us to a 2018 Facebook post by Vanguard. The post disclosed a “20-year-old gang hit girl” who confessed to never feeling bad for killing people.
Mariam Abiola, who was a member of a cult group, Eiye Confraternity, disclosed to the Vanguard newspaper how she single-handedly killed four people in Ilasamaja, Lagos State.
Further search linked us to a report by The Guardian, published in July 2018. According to the report, she confessed to killing rival cult groups and other people for a sum of N10,000.
The Cable and Bulwark Intelligence also reported similar incidents in 2018.
Conclusion
DUBAWA’s investigation shows that the video dates back to 2018. It is, therefore, misleading.
