Claim: A Facebook user, Tanji Online-TV, shared a video depicting a confrontation between the people of Jarra Sare Omar and Senegalese soldiers.
Verdict: Misleading! DUBAWA found that the video shared by the Tanji Online-TV Channel is not recent. The video first surfaced in May 2020 and has been recycled to depict the incident as recent.

On July 18, 2026, Tanji Online-TV Channel shared a 50-second video (archived here) claiming that the people of the Jara Sarre Omar community were confronting Senegalese soldiers for harming civilians.
The video showed a crowd of youth in a forest area raising their voices against the soldiers while trying to prevent them from moving. One of the youth said in the local language, “These people are following us up to our village.”
As of July 20, 2026, the post had generated 2,700 likes, 407 comments, and 164 shares. The video also attracted mixed reactions among other Facebook users, who believed it.
In the comment section, users who believe the claim, like Dax Black Black wrote, “Bravo, this is what we wanna see from the youth, we come together and make a change.”
Another user, Amat Gaye, said, “Well done, youths, die for your country.”
However, Salieu Zaal, another user, described the video as old. He wrote: “I can remember seeing an exact video months or years back. It doesn’t look like a new video.”
Due to the current security situation in the West Coast Region and the likely implications of the claim, DUBAWA decided to verify the claim.
Verification
We broke the video into keyframes and conducted reverse image searches.
The results traced the video to an earlier publication by Gambian Eyes on May 21, 2020, with the headline captioned “Senegalese soldiers operating on the Gambian soil.”
DUBAWA also found similar footage published by Amat MboDagga on May 21, 2020.
“The Senegalese soldiers yesterday invaded a village in Jarra called Sare Omar, a village within the Gambian territory. The Senegalese came there with heavy weapons and anti-missile launchers. The village youths stood firm against any attempt to enter their village, the Gambian is a sovereign nation,” Amat wrote as a caption.
In addition, Bayo News Network, an online platform, reported the incident after posting it as “breaking news” in 2020.
Conclusion
The video of a confrontation between the people of Jara Sarre Omar and Senegalese soldiers for harming civilians is an old video from 2020 recycled as new. DUBAWA found that the video has been online since May 2020. The claim is therefore misleading.
