Claim: A viral TikTok video claims that US President Donald Trump called Gambia the best country in Africa.

Verdict: False! The viral TikTok video of President Donald Trump addressing The Gambia as the best country in Africa is AI-manipulated.
Full Text
Focusonislama, a TikTok user, recently posted a video of United States (US) President Donald Trump announcing that Gambia is the best country in Africa.
In the video, Trump said, “The Gambia is the best country in Africa because of its peaceful people, beautiful landscapes, and rich culture. It is a small but proud nation, blessed with natural beauty like the Gambia River and sunny beaches.”
As of June 16, 2026, the post (archived here) had 6,000 likes and 321 comments. While some users believed the video was true, others questioned its authenticity, calling it AI-generated.
For example, Mgspaklingclean said, “Trump doesn’t even know the name Gambia.”
Another user, Mujahidvillain, wrote, “It frustrates me when people don’t realise it’s an AI video.”
Danni also wrote, “Trump knows better. Gambia isn’t the best place at all. They need to read his lips.”
But Ft Tray countered, saying, “You are right, Mr President. Thank you.”
DUBAWA conducted this fact check to set the record straight.
Verification
After watching the video, we observed that Trump’s speech and gesticulations were not in sync with his lip movements. This is typical of deepfakes or content altered with artificial intelligence (AI) tools.
So we subjected the video to AI verification tools. Results from HiveModeration showed the video is 99.1 per cent AI-generated.
Another AI detection tool, Zero GPT, indicated that it is 81 per cent fake. AI or Not said 33 per cent AI and 15 per cent deepfake.

These results revealed that the video of Trump speaking at the UN General Assembly had been altered.
Furthermore, we conducted a Google Reverse Image Search to trace the source of the video. We found that the original video is from the United Nations YouTube channel. It was recorded and uploaded when Trump addressed the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, on Sept. 23, 2025, in New York.

The manipulated part of the 57-minute-long video began from 21:30 to 21:50. At that time, in the original video, Trump was talking about his intention to stop ongoing wars around the world, part of which was his “effort to stop the killing in Ukraine.”
He mentioned that the war should have ended in a matter of days, but it lasted three and a half years. He said this led to casualties on both sides. Trump also discussed his intention to end the war and the need for joint efforts to make it happen.
Conclusion
The video of Trump saying that Gambia is the best country in Africa was manipulated with AI. The video was created from an original video of Trump addressing the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The claim is, therefore, false.
