Claim: An X user alleged that Chris Oyakhilome, founder of Christ Embassy, recently spoke about the outcome of the 2027 elections in Nigeria.

Verdict: Misleading! Pastor Chris has not made a recent statement about the 2027 election. The video in circulation is old and has been edited to include images of the current political contenders.

As the 2027 general elections draw closer, a wave of assertions has been flying around on social media about the polls.
The highly anticipated polls would feature President Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), former vice president Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and Peter Obi, the flag-bearer of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
An X user @Real_Oludah uploaded a video purportedly showing Nigerian pastor Chris Oyakhilome making statements about what would be the outcome of the elections.
The post, which featured the images of the three major contenders in the polls, was captioned, “Pastor Chris Oyakhilome names Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s mind-blowing prophecy about the 2027 Nigerian presidential elections. A must watch!”
In the four-minute video, the religious leader described the major presidential candidates by name, saying that one of them has his name in the Holy Bible.
When DUBAWA came across the video on June 15, 2026, the post had earned over 800 comments, 1,000 retweets and 5,000 likes.
We looked through the comment section of the post to weigh the responses of social media users. While some users doubted the video’s veracity, others believed it.
For instance, @IreinAdekunle1 wrote, “They’ve started their madness again. When they fail, they’ll find excuses to deceive their gullible congregation!”
Another user, @NigIsland, noted, “Please bookmark this video, because we will revisit it after all eyes have been washed with windscreen washer fluid.”
Meanwhile, @Aunogwu asserted: “This was before the 2023 election.”
@MappingReveals queried, “Is this recent? Was this not for the 2023 election? You may need to check this once again!”
Further checks show that the post has been used by other social media users on Facebook and YouTube, including blogs. See here, here, here, and here.
Considering the personalities involved and the fact that statements from religious leaders could influence brewing conversations around the political exercise, DUBAWA decided to trace the source of the video.
Verification
To determine the veracity of the assertion, DUBAWA conducted multiple keyword searches but found no reports from credible media outlets in Nigeria suggesting that pastor Chris recently gave the prophecy in the video.
We found a Facebook post with similar footage dated Feb. 20, 2023, five days before the 2023 general elections.
Church Gist used the same video in February 2023, crediting pastor Chris’ church as the source of the clip.
Mediablast Network also uploaded it on its YouTube page with the caption, “What Pastor Chris said about the major candidates of the 2023 Nigerian presidential election.”
We observed that the tags and date attached to the video indicate that it was uploaded three years ago, ahead of the 2023 general election.
This confirms that the video is not new but recycled with a different context to appear new. This practice is a pattern DUBAWA has noticed and debunked during election seasons.
Finally, we reviewed the official X and Instagram handles of the Christ Embassy church to see if it recently posted the clip, but found no post validating the X user’s assertion.
Conclusion
DUBAWA’s investigation reveals that the video of pastor Chris’s prophecy is not new. The video has been online since 2023. The claim is therefore misleading.
