Differing thoughts surround the nationwide protest calling on the Bola Tinubu-led administration to ease living standards for Nigerians. While many Nigerian youths fully support the protest, some pro-government factions oppose it and urge Nigerians to trust the administration.
An X user, Pastor Who (@pastormarvy), claimed on Aug. 1, 2024, that no protest is ongoing at Lekki Toll Gate, Freedom Park and Peace Park in Lagos state. He said the apathy indicate the people’s trust in the Tinubu-led reforms and the South West’s no-violence commitment.
Verification
DUBAWA contacted Damilola Oluwafemi, a journalist with Business Day newspaper present at Ojota, who revealed that the claim is false. He provided images he took at the parks to validate his responses.
Also, we found footage of police presence and protesters at Lekki Toll Gate on credible media platforms covering the location, like Channels Television.
Conclusion
Protesters were present at both locations mentioned in the claim. Therefore, it is false.
