Verdict: False. The post was published from an account impersonating transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano. The account shown is @FabrizioRomab0, using a zero in place of the “o” in Romano. There is no evidence that the real Fabrizio Romano made this announcement. Current reports instead indicate that Dembélé has agreed to extend his PSG contract until 2030.

A post circulating on X (Formerly Twitter) claims that Ousmane Dembélé is moving from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal. The post attributes the announcement to renowned football transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano and uses the phrase “Here we go”, commonly associated with Romano’s transfer announcements. Similar posts were made here, here, and here.
The post has generated over 3.1 million views, 10,000 likes, 700 comments, and 1,300 reshares.
The post further claims that PSG permitted Al Hilal to complete the transfer, that Dembélé had been authorised for a medical examination, and that he was travelling to Riyadh to sign the contract.
Verification
DUBAWA examined the X account shown in the screenshot and found a major red flag. Although the account uses Fabrizio Romano’s name and profile picture, its handle is @FabrizioRomab0, with a zero (“0”) replacing the final letter “o” in “Romano”. This is not the verified account @FabrizioRomano. In fact, this account only joined X in August 2026, whereas the actual Fabrizio Romano joined in July 2011.
Further searches of reports attributed to Fabrizio Romano found no credible confirmation of Dembélé’s alleged move to Al Hilal. Instead, recent reporting shows the opposite.
On September 3, reports said Dembélé had reached an agreement with PSG to extend his contract until June 2030. See here and here.
This is also consistent with PSG’s own official information. The club continues to list Dembélé as a PSG player on its official website, while its recent communications continue to feature him as part of the Club’s squad.
There had, however, been genuine interest from Al Hilal. Reports in July said the Saudi club had explored a move for Dembélé, meaning the claim may have been based on a real transfer rumour that was later manipulated into a false announcement. See here and here.
Also, Al Hilal’s official social media account does not list Ousmane Dèmbèlè as their new signing.
The claim therefore appears to have adopted Fabrizio Romano’s identity and style to circulate a fabricated transfer announcement.
Conclusion
The claim is false. The X account making the announcement is an impersonation account, not Fabrizio Romano’s genuine account. Available evidence instead shows that Dembélé has agreed to remain with PSG and extend his contract until 2030, despite previous interest from Al Hilal.
