A Facebook user, Fofanafofana, alleged that Jagaban said he would form a new political party if he is not chosen as the APC flagbearer for 2028.

The post (archived here) reads: “Breaking News. Jagaban said if he’s not elected as APC Flagbearer for 2028, he will form a new political party ahead of 2028.” At the time of filing, the post had 945 reactions, 198 comments, and three shares.

Sheikh Alhaji Mohamed Omodu Kamara, widely known as MOK Jagaban, is a Sierra Leonean entrepreneur, philanthropist, and political aspirant. He is a prominent figure within the All People’s Congress (APC) and is said to be eyeing the party’s 2028 ticket.

Because the claim could mislead readers into thinking he was preparing to leave the APC, DUBAWA verified it.

Verification

DUBAWA conducted an online keyword search and found no evidence of a report attributing Jagaban’s intention to leave the APC to not getting the party’s 2028 ticket.

We also reviewed Jagaban’s official Facebook page and X account for posts related to such claims. Neither carries a statement about forming a new party. The researcher further contacted the Fofanafofana Facebook page and asked for evidence. However, the claimant could not provide evidence to substantiate the claim.

David Gbla, the campaign strategist for Jagaban’s team, also said the claim was false.

DUBAWA searched other credible national news websites, including Truth Media and  AYV News.  None reported that Jagaban had said he would form a new party.

Conclusion

The claim that Jagaban said he would form a new political party if he is not elected as APC flagbearer for the 2028 elections is false. His campaign team denied it, and no such information appears on his official Facebook or X pages.
