The death of Aloba Ilerioluwa, popularly known as Mohbad has continued to spark controversies and speculations on social media.

Mohbad died on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2023, and was subsequently buried the following day in the Ikorodu area of Lagos.

On Monday, Sept. 18, 2023, the Nigerian police force inaugurated a 13-crew special investigation to probe the singer’s death.

“Do not forget, we have unique access to INTERPOL. Everybody linked to it (the death of Mohbad) will be identified and they will be brought to establish their level of involvement,” Lagos State Commissioner, Idowu Owohunwa, said on Sept. 19, 2023, at a press conference.

Following this development, a Facebook user posted a video explaining that the autopsy result was out and the truth unravelling the singer’s death was explained.

In the three-minute video, she explained that the singer did not die but was injected with a substance that made him unconscious for six hours and was hurriedly buried.

She then concluded that the police should be fast and thorough with the investigation as it is a painful event.

The video has garnered 2,200 likes, 262 comments, and 90,000 views since it was posted on Sept. 22, 2023. The comments on the post had conflicting opinions.

Edna’s Palace in the comments said:

“Are you sure this is real, because an autopsy takes two to three weeks.”

Another user, Success_money, wrote:

“Wow, I can not imagine what this guy went through in that grave alive,”

The conflicting opinions, the virality of the post, and the sensitive nature of this issue made us at DUBAWA verify it.

Verification

To be sure about how fast an autopsy can be conducted, we spoke to Abiola  Ayanbola, a doctor of surgery who explained to us that autopsy reports are usually completed within 60 days from the post-mortem date. However, there are cases in which it could take 90 days or longer depending on the complexity of the incidence.

We also did an advanced Google search to see if credible media organisations had written the news of the autopsy results and saw nothing. Punch had reported that as of Sept. 22, 2023, the Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, had confirmed that medical experts had successfully concluded the autopsy on the corpse and are waiting for the results. This proves that the autopsy outcome has not yet been divulged.

On the issue of whether he was buried dead or alive, a statement on the Instagram page of Perez Hospital explained that Mohbad was brought to the hospital dead. They further clarified that the video of the nurse administering an injection was from another hospital, not theirs.

The Lagos state command, on Oct. 7, 2023, however, released an interim report stating the management of an injury inflicted on the late Mohbad during a fight with his childhood friend, Prime Boy, which resulted in his death. The report named an Auxiliary Nurse,  Fisayo Ogedengbe as the Prime suspect in Mohbad’s death after she admitted during interrogation that the injection she gave him triggered a reaction that led to his eventual death.

Conclusion

The investigations prove that the autopsy result is not public knowledge yet. Credible newspapers reported that Mohbad was brought in dead.
