Claim: Babucarr Bahoum, a Facebook user and a pro-government, posted a video of a road he claims was built by the Barrow government in Gambia.
Verdict: False. DUBAWA’s investigations of the 34-second video uploaded by Babucarr Bahoum indicated that the road is not Nuimi Hakalang Road, located in Gambia’s north bank region. Evidence gathered from local sources showed that such a road was not constructed in Nuimi.

The 84.5 km Nuimi Hakalang Road is among the first road construction initiatives that President Adama Barrow launched in the North Bank Region. Construction commenced in September 2020 and is expected to be completed by late 2025.
The government has received accolades for the road project, which connects several isolated communities in Nuimi.
However, on Sept. 30, 2025, Babucarr Bahoum, a Facebook user and ardent supporter of the ruling National People’s Party (NPP), shared a video of a road, asserting that it is the 84.5-kilometre Nuimi Hakalang Road.
The 34-second video he posted garnered over 5,000 views, six shares, and 21 comments on Facebook.
Some commenters praised the president for the road, while others expressed concerns that the video was misleading.
Due to the video’s controversy, DUBAWA decided to investigate the claim.
Verification:
To ascertain the video’s authenticity, DUBAWA undertook a series of investigations. A search using Google reverse image search, Yandex, and inVID found no evidence of the video on any website.
However, we reached out to sources residing in Nuimi to verify the video’s claims.
Ousman A. Marong, a well-known community radio journalist in Nuimi who regularly uses the road, labelled the video as false.
“This is not Nuimi Hakalang Road,” he stated, noting that the characteristics of this road differ.
“The Nuimi Hakalang Road lacks such features. The road from Bunaidu to Meme does not have concrete slabs.”
Ebrima Saine, a resident of Kuntaya, also debunked the video, saying it’s not their road.
To further investigate, DUBAWA contacted the Ministry of Transport, Works, and Infrastructure.
Aminata Sanneh, the communications officer, told us that the road shared by the Facebook user is false.
“This is not Nuimi Hakalang road,” she responded, adding that the painting on the road is all white.
We visited their Facebook page to check for their recent updates on the road, which they frequently share.
We discovered that the uploaded pictures differ from those the Facebook user shared, which claim to show the same road in Nuimi.
Our research on the National Road Authority (NRA) Facebook page also uncovered conflicting information about the road, further confirming that the video shared by the Facebook user is false.
Below are the photos of the actual road posted by the National Road Authority and the Ministry of Transport, Works, and Infrastructure

A detailed examination of the video revealed inconsistencies. The video shows the road equipped with full street lights, whereas the Nuimi Hakalang Road lacks any street lights.
The landscape depicted in the video differs from that of the Nuimi Hakalang Road. The machinery used is also not similar.
Conclusion
The video posted by Babucarr Bahoum, a Facebook user and strong supporter of the ruling National People’s Party, claims it to be the Nuimi Hakalang Road. However, evidence shows that the road has not been constructed anywhere in The Gambia.
