Recently, a viral post surfaced online claiming the Federal Polytechnic Offa is recruiting. The post shared on Facebook and WhatsApp platforms claimed the institution seeks to engage suitably qualified scholars and academics to fill numerous academic and non-academic positions.
The post listed the alleged advertised positions to include Lecturer I, Lecturer II, Assistant Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Higher Executive Officer, Computer Programmer/Analyst, Higher Technical Officer, Confidential Secretary I, Accountant II, Auditor II, and Librarian I.
The post also indicated October 21, 2023, as the application deadline for the said positions.
The post asked interested candidates to forward their credentials, curriculum vitae (CV), and other information to the college.
Verification
DUBAWA began verifying the claim by visiting the official website of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa.
Findings revealed that there was no advertised job opening on the website, which is usually a repository of significant happenings in the institution.
A further check on the official social media handle of the institution showed the same thing.
Meanwhile, DUBAWA obtained a disclaimer addressing the rumoured recruitment exercise. In the disclaimer signed by its registrar, Gabriel Oyediran Soko, the institution asked the public to disregard the purported recruitment.
“The management describes this information as a fallacious and cheap attempt to defraud the unsuspecting members of the public. Members of the public are thereby advised to ignore the false advertisement as the Polytechnic did not put out any advertisement for recruitment,” the disclaimer reads.
DUBAWA further contacted the Polytechnic Public Relations Unit to seek the claim’s authenticity.
“The claim is untrue. The disclaimer is a fact and it’s from the office of the Public relations released today,” Atinukemi Abbas, the Deputy Public relations officer of the Polytechnic, said.
Conclusion
The claim that Federal Polytechnic Offa in Kwara State is recruiting is false. The institution did not authorize the viral recruitment exercise circulating on social media platforms.
