Claim: A Facebook user posted a picture claiming that local community security officials have arrested a suspected bandit member who operates in Zamfara, Kaduna, and Niger States, implying it is a recent event.
Verdict: Misleading. The image does not depict a recent arrest. Reverse-image searches and archival reporting show the individual was apprehended in April 2026 by local security guards for trafficking ammunition concealed in a jerrycan.

On Sept. 3, 2026, Facebook user Sagacious Bello Lukman shared an image purporting to show a newly paraded bandit operative linked to kingpin Kachalla Gwaska.
Part of the caption (archived here) reads, “May Almighty God continue to expose bandits in Nigeria: Zamfara State Community Protection Guards have paraded some suspects including bandits’ informants, logistics suppliers, a doctor that treats bullet wounds and a fake legal practitioner. Among those paraded is 20-year-old Abubakar Malan Ori, who is in the camp of notorious bandit leader Kachalla Gwaska.”
The claim prompted various reactions. A Facebook user, Lateef Kolawole Akinsanya, remarked,
“This is a significant breakthrough in the fight against banditry in Nigeria; the authorities are working tirelessly to bring perpetrators to justice.”
Another user, Jeremiah Nimfa, wrote, “This guy was mentioned by Hassan in his story with the English alhaji.” Meanwhile, Abdulsalam A. Aliyu questioned the parade conditions: “Isn’t this man supposed to be sardine-chained? Why am I looking at a free dude?”
As of Sept. 4, 2026, the claim had attracted 639 reactions, 136 comments and 85 shares.
A similar claim also appears on Facebook.
Because of the security implications and its virality, DUBAWA decided to verify it.
Verification
DUBAWA subjected keyframes from the viral photograph to a Google reverse-image search and found that the media had been published online months earlier, in April 2026.
On 24 April 2026, a Facebook news platform, Nigerian Armed Forces & Military News, shared the identical image, identifying the individual not as a field fighter of Kachalla Gwaska, but as an arms courier intercepted by the Zamfara Community Protection Guards (ZCPG, locally known as Askarawa).
Part of the report reads, “Zamfara Community Protection Guards (ZCPG) have arrested a suspected arms courier linked to notorious bandit leader Bello Turji in Zamfara State. The suspect was intercepted while transporting ammunition concealed in a jerrycan, reportedly sourced from Nasarawa State en route to Zamfara, according to officials”.
On 25 April 2026, Abba_blogger also shared the same image and ammunition seized from the suspect, linking him to the Bello Turji bandits group.
DUBAWA conducted a keyword search, and the results showed that the suspect is Abdulhamid Isa, who was linked to Bello Turji and Baleri.
The publication by MediaSmartNews.com further states that the suspect is a native of Mashema village in Zurmi Local Government Area of the state.
The viral image also appeared online as far back as April 2026, as seen here, here, here, and here.
Conclusion
The claim that the photograph shows a bandit fighter from Kachalla Gwaska’s camp recently paraded by the Zamfara Community Protection Guards is misleading. The image dates back to April 2026.
