Claim: A video shows people looting a truckload of livestock recently.
Verdict: Misleading! The clip is an old footage of an incident that happened in 2020.

As Nigerians continue to bemoan the economic crisis prevailing in the country, including the hike in food commodities prices, an X user has posted a video showing citizens stealthily looting a truckload of livestock.
The X user, OjiUgo (@OjiUgo_nwa), along with the 30-second video, wrote, “They’ve started looting goats too. A whole trailer (was) looted.”
As of Monday, April 8, 2024, the post had garnered 280,000 views, 799 likes, 903 reposts, and 483 comments.
However, most users of the application who commented on the post disagreed that the post was recent.
“This video isn’t recent. This was during the Endsars period,” @meet_tycoon said.
“I’ve seen this video, which is not recent; stop spreading misinformation, please, @Rickyslim4 commented.
DUBAWA decided to fact-check the claim due to the disagreement on the event’s timeline.
Verification
DUBAWA conducted a Google Reverse Image Search and discovered the video was posted on social media in 2020. Another video with a similar context can be found here.
The Sun also reported a similar incident, where hoodlums, disguised as EndSARS protesters, invaded the animal market in the Benin-Asaba expressway and looted a truck full of animals. This was reported on Oct. 22, 2020. New Dawn Nigeria also reported the incident.
DUBAWA also came across a 2020 clip of the same video on YouTube, mentioning the incident amidst nationwide protests in 2020.
Conclusion
The claim is misleading, as the video is connected to livestock looting in 2020.
