Claim: A Facebook user, Ferdibua, posted a video claiming a Peter Obi rally recently took place in Imo State.

Verdict: Misleading. The video is from Peter Obi’s 2022 Labour Party rally in Imo State, ahead of the 2023 general elections, not a recent rally.

On Sept. 30, 2026, a Facebook user, Ferdibua, shared a video (archived here) captioned “Imo State Rally, We are live”.
As of Oct. 12, 2026, the video had garnered over 83,000 views, more than 113 comments, 410 reshares, and 2,000 likes.
Some Facebook users who commented on the video expressed support for Peter Obi and discussed the forthcoming elections.
Moses Chukwu wrote, “Obi will win all East and South states without stress”.
Jude Nnaji commented, “So INEC chairman will look at this and rig the election? Hmmm e no go funny o”.
Another user, Coleman Uzonna, wrote, “PO IS COMING NEW NIGERIA IS POSSIBLE WE MOVE”.
The post was reshared here, here, here, and here.
The post comes as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections. So DUBAWA investigated the video to verify the claim.
Verification
DUBAWA subjected the video to InVID-WeVerify, a verification tool that analyses videos and conducts reverse image searches.
The search revealed that Channels Television had published the footage on Dec. 6, 2022, under the headline, “Obi Holds Mega Rally In Imo, Vows To End ASUU, Doctors’ Strikes.”
According to Channels Television, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, held a mega rally in Owerri, Imo State’s capital, alongside his running mate, Yusuf Baba-Ahmed.
The publication confirms the rally took place in December 2022, ahead of the 2023 general elections, not during the current build-up to the 2027 polls.
DUBAWA also found the video published by other platforms here and here, further confirming it is not recent.
Peter Obi is currently running for president under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), with Rabiu Kwankwaso as his running mate.
DUBAWA searched for the keywords “Imo,” “Obi,” “Rally”, and “NDC” but found no reports from reputable media outlets about the event. DUBAWA found reports of a recent rally in Imo State: a march organised by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in support of President Bola Tinubu on Oct. 12, 2026.
Conclusion
The viral video is from 2022, not from a recent rally ahead of the 2027 general elections. The claim is therefore misleading, as the video’s original context has changed.
