Ike Ekweremadu, the former deputy senate president, Beatrice Ekweremadu, his wife and Obinna Obeta, a medical doctor, were imprisoned on May 5, 2023, for nine years and eight months, four years and six months, and 10 years, respectively, for conspiring to arrange the travel of a man to harvest his organs.
In response to this, Zara Onyinye, on Facebook, claims that the wife of the former deputy senator Beatrice arrived in Nigeria on Jan. 21, 2025. In the post, she wrote, “Mrs Beatrice Ekweremadu, wife of former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, is back in Nigeria as she has been released from prison.”
