Claim: A Facebook user shared a video of Seyi Tinubu praising President Tinubu.

Verdict: Misleading! The video is not recent as portrayed and is unrelated to the country’s fuel crisis. The video was recorded in 2023, a few months after Tinubu’s election as president.

Following the unexpected increase in fuel prices across different states, Nigerians have expressed their displeasure at President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
A few days after the surge in petrol price, a Facebook page, ABN TV, on Tuesday, Mar. 10, 2026, shared a video (archived here) of President Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, appreciating Nigeria’s support for Tinubu’s leadership. He further assured Nigerians of the president’s capability to govern the Nation.
Alongside the video was a caption and transcript that reads, “I want to say thank you for the faith you have in our president, and I guarantee you President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will not fail. Nigeria, the hope we have been hoping for and looking for is here, the President we have been waiting for is here, Seyi Tinubu.”
As of Sunday, March 15, 2026, the video has accumulated over 4,400 views, 163 comments, and 59 likes.
In the comment section, we observed that most comments criticised the video, calling out the current administration on the recent increase in file price.
A response from Ifeanyi Onoh reads, “I’m disappointed with you as a big failure, including Bola Ahmed. Nigeria is from one problem to another now. Why is fuel #1240 naira?”
Eaglemaster King questioned, “1 liter fuel is #1,200, bro. He failed, abi he did not fail?”
Another Facebook user, Godswill Abel, appealed, “Please stop forcing leadership on us, let us vote our choice pls in God’s name.”
Given the current petrol crisis in the country, DUBAWA decided to verify the video’s veracity and recency.
Verification
We ran keyframes from the video through a Google Reverse Image Search and found the same video shared by Punch Newspapers’ Facebook account on July 26, 2023.
Punch’s Facebook caption read, “VIDEO: My Father Will Not Fail, Seyi Tinubu Assures Nigerians. President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, has assured Nigerians that his father will not fail in his duties as the president of the country.”
Punch also uploaded the same video with a similar caption on Instagram in 2023.
Further search led us to a similar video shared by Guardian Nigeria on YouTube in 2023.
Eagle Media TV also shared a similar video on Facebook in 2023, as seen here.
Conclusion
DUBAWA’s findings reveal that the video was filmed in 2023, not recently. It is unrelated to the recent fuel hike.
