Verification
Screenshots of keyframes of the video posted by the Facebook user were subjected to a Google Reverse Image Search. DUBAWA noticed a similar video posted on Facebook on Nov. 2, 2022.
DUBAWA conducted a keyword search to gain further insight into the nature and timeliness of the video. In a Vanguard report on Nov. 3, 2022, Inspector-General of Police Usman Baba directed Olaleye Faleye, the Commissioner of Police in Osun State, to investigate the alleged assault on a female inspector by her male colleague, who reportedly attacked her for refusing to date him.
On Nov. 2, 2022, TheCable reported a similar incident, stating that Ajayi Matthew, the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) of the Ode Emu police division, was accused of assaulting a female inspector after she rejected his love advances on her.
The report further stated that Mr Matthew assaulted her in front of two constables and ten civilians while threatening to shoot her with a gun.
Meanwhile, the Osun Defender reported that the assaulted female inspector serves in Osun State.
Conclusion
DUBAWA findings show that the posted video is an old video that has been online since November 2022.
