In January 2025, 2Baba publicly announced his separation from his now estranged wife, Annie Idibia, and ongoing divorce proceedings, ending a marriage that began in 2012 after years of an on-and-off relationship.
The music icon posted on Instagram that they had been separated for some time and had filed for divorce. Although he initially deleted the post, he later released a video confirming the announcement and stating that his account had not been hacked. Following this, the couple unfollowed each other on social media, and 2Baba indicated plans to address the situation further at a press conference.
However, on Dec. 23, 2025, a photo showing 2Baba, Annie, and popular comedian Nasboi resurfaced online, with captions hinting at a possible reunion between the estranged couple. Several blogs and social media pages shared the image here and here. At least one national newspaper published the story (archived link here) with the headline: “2Baba and Annie Idibia spotted together after name change.”
Some social media users shared varying opinions on the image. Papalton said, “She still loves him,” while kennyyak18 claimed, “She will accept him back.” Another user, _rosey_gle, remarked, “Natasha won’t like this.” Tamunoimama Abere also commented, “If no be AI, Tubaba go explain tire to Natasha.”
Reacting on Facebook, Oluchi E. Jessy dismissed the image as an old photograph, saying, “Na old picture nau. Una never see this picture before?” However, Daniella Amarachi Ojukwu challenged the claim, replying, “Where u see am before?”
Given the popularity of the personalities involved and the wide circulation of the image, including its use by a national newspaper, DUBAWA subjected the claim to verification.
Verification
A Google reverse image search conducted by DUBAWA revealed that the photograph is not recent. The image dates back to January 2025, when several celebrities took to social media to express their displeasure and concern over the reported divorce between 2Baba and Annie.
Further checks show that Nasboi, who appeared in the photo, publicly reacted to the renewed circulation of the image. Responding to a blog post on X (formerly Twitter), the comedian distanced himself from the reconciliation narrative and criticised blogs for spreading misleading information.
“This blog dem really be evil people sha,” Nasboi wrote.
Conclusion
DUBAWA’s findings confirm that the photograph is an old image recycled to push a misleading narrative.
