On the afternoon of Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024, Victor Onie Williams, a popular ex-contestant of Sierra Leone’s Housemates Salone reality TV show, reportedly suffered a sudden medical emergency while at the Fourah Bay College Hostel and was immediately rushed to Rokupa Government Hospital for urgent medical attention.
Despite the efforts made at the hospital, Victor was pronounced dead an hour after arrival. His body was then transported to Columbia Davies Funeral Home in preparation for further arrangements.
However, shortly after his passing, there were conflicting reports with traces of widespread confusion and misinformation.
Later that same day, a post by Jeneba Blog on Facebook claimed that Victor was still alive. The blog stated that when his body arrived at Columbia Davies Funeral Home, it was discovered that he was breathing. The post read: “Onie nor die 8. What God can not do, doesn’t exist oh.”

Victor’s elder brother, James Ade Williams, confirmed to DUBAWA that his brother passed away at Rokupa Government Hospital after a sudden attack. According to James, Victor was declared dead by medical personnel, and the family arranged for his body to be taken to Columbia Davies Funeral Home for preservation.
James strongly denied the rumours circulating online that Victor was still alive, describing them as hurtful and misleading. “Victor is gone, and these false claims are adding to the pain of our loss,” he stated.
Victor’s cousin, Frederick Buckarie, also spoke to DUBAWA and corroborated James’ account. Frederick explained that the family has been grieving and was shocked to see social media flooded with unverified claims about Victor being alive. He urged the public to respect the family’s loss and refrain from spreading false information.
