A Facebook user, Harvey Elliot, claimed that Liverpool’s right-back, Trent Alexander-Arnold, has allegedly become a guardian to a newborn that was abandoned in a park near his hometown, just after Liverpool’s weekend game against Leicester City.
The English international won in the 76th minute at the King Power Stadium. This feat further closes in on Liverpool’s chances of winning their second Premier League title when he allegedly encountered the situation after the match on Easter Sunday.
A media outlet, Sport Hub, also reported a similar narrative and mentioned that Alexander-Arnold had immediately “stepped forward” to become the guardian of the abandoned infant discovered in a “dimly lit corner of Stanley Park.”
The outlet stated that the English player pledged to become the child’s benefactor and promised to “fund the child’s education, healthcare, housing, and every other living expense until the child turned 18.”
DUBAWA found the same claim on Facebook here and here.
As of Saturday, April 26, 2025, the Facebook post had garnered 33 likes and one share.
However, due to social media users’ tendency to share clickbait stories and sensational news devoid of authenticity, DUBAWA decided to verify the claim.
Verification
DUBAWA conducted a Google keyword search concerning the 26-year-old’s decision to care for an abandoned baby and discovered no credible news outlet (local or international) reported the alleged incident.
We also did a Google keyword search for the location of the alleged incident, but found no related reports.
DUBAWA looked up social media updates the right-back may have shared that day and noticed that he only posted triumphant pictures of himself after scoring the winner for Liverpool. He did not share any other event, not even the alleged incident that the Facebook user shared.
We further subjected the image of Alexander-Arnold carrying a baby to an artificial intelligence image analysis tool, Hive Moderation, which indicated that the image contains 99.9 per cent AI-generated or deepfake content.
Conclusion
The claim is false. No credible news outlet reported the alleged incident, and the image used to sell the narrative is AI-generated.
