Bomi County Senator Edwin Snow claims that there are more females than males in Cape Verde. Senator Snow is a member of the ECOWAS Parliament from Liberia.
On Tuesday, during a radio appearance which was carried live on several online platforms, including Liberia Excellent News Network and the official social page of the Liberian Senate, he stated,
“55% of their population is female, and 45% is male. They have more women than men in Cape Verde.”
Senator Edwin Snow Jr. also went live on his Facebook page during his radio appearance.
His live Facebook feed generated 13 likes, 9 comments, and 3 shares.

Our researcher has reached out to the Bomi Senator to justify his claim, but he has failed to respond to inquiries.
Data from World Population Review shows that there is a slightly higher male-to-female ratio of 1.03 to 1.
The data also reveals that the country has a population of 529.6k, contrary to the claim made by the Bomi Senator that it has up to 800,000.

Also, data from population pyramids shows a male surplus of over 8,982 or 1.7%.
