Hillary Clinton’s nomination as the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate in 2016 marked a historic moment, but it was one of the many milestones in her political career. During 1993 and 2016, Hillary occupied influential positions serving as First Lady (1993-2001), Senator representing New York (2001-2009), and Secretary of State during the Obama-led administration between 2009 and 2013.
An Instagram user identified as Bahdlex shared a post disguised as breaking news on Aug. 11, 2025, alleging that Hillary has died. It reads, “U.S former first lady Hillary Clinton Passed Away at 77 after a Brief illness.”
The post includes an image of Hillary smiling and dressed in black, accompanied by the text, “In Loving Memory of Hillary Clinton 1947–2025.”
As of Aug. 19, 2025, the post had gained 2,825 likes, 776 comments, 1,529 shares, and 159 reposts.
Users like mike_01974 believed the claim saying “Rest in peace, and may perpetual light shine upon you. You gave us Trump.”
Others like Fayehanson refuted the claim: “This is terrible to say when it’s not true. People are so mean.”
The post, filled with emotional language and photos, spread quickly and attracted significant attention on social media. DUBAWA decided to investigate and verify the authenticity of the claim.
Verification
DUBAWA contacted the Instagram account behind the post for evidence or clarification. The owner admitted he wasn’t sure if the information was accurate, explaining that he had only seen the picture on Facebook.
When further asked to share the link to the Facebook post, he said he couldn’t remember. DUBAWA conducted a keyword search on Facebook but found no such post.
Also, a keyword search on Google did not bring up such news on any credible media organisation.
Additionally, Hillary’s official X account and her verified Instagram profile show recent activity, with posts made just days after the claim began circulating, and none of them mentioned anything about her alleged demise.
Credible news outlets confirmed that Hillary Clinton is very active. For example, on Aug. 16, 2025, a few days after the post began circulating, she appeared on The Raging Moderates podcast for an interview in which she discussed current U.S. politics and upcoming elections.
Conclusion
The claim that Hillary Clinton has died is false. There are no credible reports or official statements to support the claim. Recent verifiable evidence also confirmed that she is alive and active.
