Verdict: Misleading! Available videos indicate that the image in question was filmed in Pakistan, not in any northern state of Nigeria, as claimed.

For years, Nigerians have endured frequent power outages, which have compelled them to rely on generators and solar systems.

Against this backdrop, an X user, @oAbuAgenda, shared an aerial image of several solar panels on the rooftops of numerous homes located in Northern Nigeria.

“Somewhere in Northern Nigeria,” the X user wrote, along with the shared image.

Meanwhile, the engagement statistics available as of Friday, July 11, 2025, showed that the post has garnered about 2,230 views, 12 likes, one repost, two quotes, and one bookmark.

An overview of the comment section reveals that some users believed the image, while others doubted it.

“Kano, I will say,” @IgeObafemi001 wrote.

“Where is this bro?” Another user,  @@IkechiUgwoeje, asked.

“This is not Nigeria, stop the fake news,” @Tobechukwu9058 stated.

In a similar post on X, the user shared the same image, accusing the Minister of Power of widespread use of solar panels.

The claim was also shared on X (here, here, and here) and Facebook (here, here, and here).

Noticing the contention in the comment section and alleged involvement of the Minister of Power, DUBAWA decided to trace the image’s actual context and origin.

Verification

DUBAWA subjected the shared image to a Google Reverse Image Search. This led us to similar posts shared on TikTok.

A 2024 TikTok video shows the same image shared by the claimant. The location referenced in the video clip is Chowk Azam, a city in Layyah District, Punjab, Pakistan.

Furthermore, there were instances where the image was shared on Instagram, as seen here and here. However, these users did not provide any meaningful context in their posts.

We found another TikTok video with an Arabic inscription that reads, “In the future, home addresses will be explained like this. Come to the house in front of the mosque with the blue dome seen in Urdu Sukkur/Pichar.”

Meanwhile, when we checked “Urdu Sukkur/Pichar,” we discovered it refers to a local market or residential area in Sukkur, Pakistan.

Conclusion

DUBAWA discovered that the aerial image was not captured in Nigeria but in Pakistan. The claim is therefore false.
