A local librarian blog, ‘Gary The Blogger’ has claimed that Liberian musician, JZyNo is the first artist and first Liberian to reach 100,000 subscribers on YouTube and to be awarded the YouTube Silver Plaque.
The blog took to its official Facebook page, saying “ BREAKING NEWS! Another record has been set in the history of the Liberian entertainment industry! JZyNo is the first artist and first Liberian to reach 100,000 subscribers on YouTube and to be awarded the YouTube Silver Plaque Congratulations, JZyNo”

Who is JZyNo?
Jzyno is a talented Liberian artist currently based in Ghana and goes by the real name Jonathan Lee Pratt. He has been making headways in the music industry locally and internationally with his infectious beats and soulful melodies. The song ‘Butter my Bread’ which featured Ghanaian artist, Lasmid in June 2023 brought him to the limelight on the international stage.

To verify the authenticity of the claim made in the post, we first contacted the claimant, ‘Gary The Blogger’ via WhatsApp but got no reply, as seen in the screenshot below
The researcher then investigated the claim and discovered that a Liberian, Mercy D. Gono, based in the United States of America has since set such a record.
The researcher then contacted Madam Gono via Facebook messenger, where she confirmed that she is a Liberian based in the United States of America and has over one million followers on YouTube and two million across all platforms.
Madam GON said, “Thanks for reaching out to me. Yes, I am a Liberian and a registered nurse based in the United States of America. I won the YouTube Silver Plague in 2019 and won the Gold Plague in 2020”
