Queen Johnson, a member of the opposition Unity Party, accused Monrovia City Mayor John-Charuk Siafa of shutting down his printing press and appointing his daughter as Revenue Director at the Monrovia City Corporation.
Johnson claimed that following his appointment and confirmation as Mayor, Siafa relocated staff from his private business—the Siafa Media Store—to MCC and subsequently shut the company down. She also alleged nepotism, asserting that the Mayor had appointed his daughter to a key revenue-generating position.
The claim, made on a public Facebook post, gained significant attention between May 31 and June 8, 2025, amassing 107 comments, two shares, and over 77 emoji reactions.
In light of the public interest and nature of the allegations, DUBAWA initiated a fact-checking investigation.
Verification
Contrary to this claim, DUBAWA confirmed that the Siafa Media Store, a printing and media service business owned by Mayor Siafa, was still operational.
In an interview with DUBAWA, Valerie Jones-Pelham, the General Manager of the Siafa Media Store, stated:
“It is unfortunate for anyone to assume that Siafa Media Store, which has existed for decades, would shut down because of a six-year appointment.”
She further explained that, while Mayor Siafa was previously the CEO, he recused himself from the company’s operations following his appointment to public office to avoid a conflict of interest.
She provided DUBAWA with invoices and contact information for active clients, including an invoice addressed to the Mano Manufacturing Company for services rendered to support her statement. Additionally, when DUBAWA visited the facility, its business was open and engaged in routine operations.

DUBAWA also investigated the allegation of nepotism to find out if Mayor Siafa had indeed appointed his daughter as the Revenue Director.
The current Revenue Director at the MCC, Rachel D. Harris, denied any family connection with Mayor Siafa. In a WhatsApp conversation with DUBAWA, Ms. Harris provided a copy of her birth certificate, which listed her father as Dweh R. Harris, Sr.

The Mayor, on the other hand, denied the allegation. No evidence was presented by Queen Johnson to substantiate her claim of a father-daughter relationship between Harris and Mayor.
Conclusion
Queen Johnson’s claims against Monrovia City Mayor John-Cheruk Siafa—that he shut down his printing press and appointed his daughter as Revenue Director—are false.
DUBAWA’s investigation, backed by interviews, official documentation, and on-site verification, confirms that the printing business is operational and that the Revenue Director is not related to the Mayor. The claimant also fails to provide evidence to support her allegations.
