Amidst the surge in technological breakthroughs, including transportation such as electric vehicles (EV), a Facebook user, Untold Facts, posted that Japan plans to launch a train capable of reaching planets other than Earth.

The post’s caption reads, “Japan is currently planning to transport people from Earth to Moon and Mars via bullet train.”

This post had gained over 11,000 likes, 445 comments, and 317 shares as of Wednesday, March 20, 2024.

The announcement drew little surprise from other users of the platform.

“It wouldn’t surprise me (how) advanced Japan is in technology.” Callum Wild commented, while Rohit Kumar Yadav wrote, “Nothing is impossible in this universe.”

However, due to the uncertainty of the post’s authenticity, DUBAWA decided to verify its credibility.

Verification

We conducted a keyword search, which led to Kyoto University’s connection with the development. We came across a 2022 press release from Kyoto University’s SIC Centre for Manned Cosmology, Graduate School of Human Life Sciences.

In the press release, the centre highlights three main objectives of the project, including developing a Luna glass/mars glass that will be the source of life on the moon and Mars, a core biome that would transfer reduced ecosystems to space, and hexatrucks that travel between planets.

DUBAWA also came across The EuroAsian Times report published in 2022, announcing that researchers at Kyoto University, Japan, in collaboration with Kajima Construction, had announced creating an artificial space habitat and inter-planetary trains.

The paper detailed that the artificial space habitat and inter-planetary trains will connect the earth, moon, and mars, as the world “witnessed the dawn of a second Space Race.”

A 2024 update about the development referred to the upcoming invention as the “stuff of science fiction.” The report noted that the project’s researchers “envision” an interplanetary transportation system called “Hexatrack,” which is expected to maintain a gravity of 1G even during long-distance travel.

London-based news outlet The Standard referred to the project as Hexagon Space Track System. The SIC Human Spaceology Centre Director, Yosuke Yamshiki, said, “There is no plan like this in other countries.”

The Business Post also reports the development and announced that the project is expected to be completed by 2050, but it might take a century for it to be completed.

Conclusion

The claim is valid. Credible news outlets have validated the development to be authentic.
