Full Text

Amid an ongoing land dispute along the Liberia-Guinea border in Foya, Lofa County, an online blog posted a video claiming that Guinea’s president said he will take ownership of the land by force.

In the six-second video, the blog says President Mamady Doumbouya pointed out that Liberia is not the owner of the property and that Guinea is.

The video is quoted as saying, “That land is not for Liberia. It belongs to Guinea, and we will get it by force.”

Given the ongoing tension the dispute is breeding among the two Mano River Union countries, DUBAWA decided to investigate the authenticity of the video.

Verification

DUBAWA checked many news publications, both local and international, but found no credible media reports about the video.

DUBAWA also ran the video through multiple AI detectors, but the ratings indicate that it is AI-generated content.

Using the Hugging Face AI image detector, a tool that classifies whether an image was likely generated by AI or created by a human, still frames from the video were scanned, and the rating shows that the video is 100% AI and 0% human.

Conclusion

Yekeh Kolubah’s blog post claiming that President Doumbouya says he will take the disputed Guinea-Liberia land by force is false.
